Deposit/Reservation
Deposit, Reservation & Delivery Policy
Alliance Cars Limited | Windlesham, Surrey
At Alliance Cars Limited, we aim to provide a straightforward, transparent and convenient vehicle purchasing experience.
We offer customers the opportunity to reserve vehicles with a holding deposit, arrange vehicle preparation and benefit from our nationwide delivery service.
Please read the following terms carefully before paying a deposit or arranging delivery.
1. Vehicle Reservations & Holding Deposits
Customers can reserve a vehicle by paying a holding deposit, normally between £100 and £200, depending on the vehicle and the agreed arrangements.
Once the deposit has been received and the reservation confirmed:
- The vehicle will be marked as reserved.
- The vehicle will be temporarily removed from advertising and general sale.
- Any agreed vehicle preparation will be arranged.
- A suitable collection or delivery date will be agreed.
- The holding deposit will be deducted from the final vehicle purchase price.
A reservation is confirmed only once Alliance Cars Limited has acknowledged receipt of the deposit and accepted the reservation.
2. Reservation Period
Vehicles are normally reserved for up to 7 calendar days, unless a different collection or delivery date has been agreed in writing.
Customers requiring additional time to arrange finance, insurance or collection should contact us in advance.
Extensions may be agreed at the discretion of Alliance Cars Limited.
If the agreed reservation period expires without the customer completing the purchase or agreeing an extension, we may cancel the reservation and offer the vehicle for sale again.
Any deposit refund or deduction will be handled in accordance with the agreed terms and applicable consumer law.
3. Customer Cancellation & Deposit Refunds
If a customer decides not to proceed with a vehicle purchase, they should notify Alliance Cars Limited as soon as possible.
Where a customer cancels a reservation without a statutory entitlement to a full refund, Alliance Cars Limited may retain an amount reflecting reasonable, evidenced losses or costs arising directly from the cancellation, provided this is fair and legally permitted.
These may include reasonable costs associated with agreed vehicle preparation or other expenses incurred specifically for the customer’s reservation, where legally recoverable.
Any remaining deposit balance will be refunded.
Holding deposits are not automatically non-refundable, and cancellation charges will not exceed amounts that can lawfully and fairly be retained.
Where a customer is legally entitled to a full refund, the deposit will be refunded accordingly.
4. Deposits Paid Following a Dealership Viewing
Where a customer visits our dealership, inspects or test-drives a vehicle and subsequently pays a deposit to proceed with the purchase, the transaction will be subject to the agreed purchase terms and applicable consumer legislation.
Customers who simply change their minds after entering into an on-premises purchase agreement do not automatically have a statutory cooling-off period.
However, any deposit deductions or cancellation charges must remain fair, reasonable and legally enforceable.
Nothing in this policy affects a customer’s statutory rights.
5. Telephone, Online & Remote Reservations
Customers may reserve vehicles through telephone enquiries, email, online payment links or other electronic communication.
Paying a deposit remotely does not automatically mean that the entire vehicle purchase is a distance contract.
The nature of the transaction will depend on how and when the purchase agreement is concluded.
Where a transaction qualifies as a distance contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers may have statutory cancellation rights.
For qualifying distance contracts, the cancellation period is generally 14 days beginning the day after the customer receives the vehicle, subject to applicable legal requirements and exceptions.
Alliance Cars Limited will comply with all applicable statutory cancellation and refund obligations.
6. Vehicle Preparation Following Reservation
Once a reservation has been confirmed, Alliance Cars Limited may arrange agreed vehicle preparation, including:
- Pre-delivery inspections.
- Servicing where required or agreed.
- MOT testing where applicable.
- Mechanical inspections and repairs.
- Professional vehicle valeting.
- Other agreed preparation work.
Vehicle preparation is arranged through our off-site garage and specialist service centres where necessary.
Any additional customer-requested work or associated charges will be discussed and agreed in advance.
Where a reservation is cancelled, preparation costs will only be deducted from a deposit where such deductions are fair, agreed where required and legally recoverable.
7. Finance Applications
Customers purchasing vehicles through finance should be aware that finance applications are subject to lender approval, affordability assessments and eligibility criteria.
Where finance is declined, we will discuss the available options with the customer.
If the customer is unable to proceed with the purchase, any deposit refund will be assessed in accordance with the agreed reservation terms and applicable consumer rights.
8. Nationwide Vehicle Delivery
Alliance Cars Limited offers nationwide vehicle delivery throughout the United Kingdom.
Delivery charges are calculated according to the customer’s location, distance from our dealership and transportation requirements.
All delivery charges will be communicated and agreed before the vehicle is dispatched.
Our delivery service allows customers to inspect the vehicle at their delivery address and, where agreed and appropriate, undertake a test drive before completing the purchase.
Customers should carefully review the vehicle description, photographs, specifications and available history before requesting delivery.
9. Delivery Charges – Customer Decides Not to Purchase
Please read this section carefully before arranging vehicle delivery.
Where a customer requests vehicle delivery to their home, workplace or another agreed location, Alliance Cars Limited incurs transportation costs in providing that service.
These costs may include:
- Driver time and wages.
- Fuel and transportation expenses.
- Vehicle collection and delivery arrangements.
- Return transportation where the customer declines the vehicle.
- Other reasonable costs directly associated with the agreed delivery service.
Non-Refundable Delivery Charges
Where a vehicle is delivered to the customer’s agreed location, the customer has the opportunity to inspect or test-drive it, and subsequently decides not to proceed with the purchase solely because they have changed their mind or no longer wish to buy the vehicle, the agreed delivery charge is non-refundable, provided no statutory refund right applies.
This applies where:
- The vehicle has been delivered as agreed.
- The vehicle materially matches its advertised description and the information provided before delivery.
- The customer decides not to purchase the vehicle for personal reasons.
- The delivery service has been provided and the charge was clearly agreed before dispatch.
- Retaining the charge is permitted by applicable consumer law.
If the customer decides not to proceed, our driver will return the vehicle to Alliance Cars Limited.
The delivery charge will not be refunded solely because the customer dislikes the vehicle, changes their mind or decides not to purchase it after inspection or a test drive.
This is because the agreed transportation service has already been provided and the associated costs have been incurred.
However, this provision does not override any applicable statutory cancellation, rejection or refund rights.
10. Return Transportation Following an Unsuccessful Delivery
Where a customer declines to purchase a vehicle following delivery and inspection, our driver will normally return the vehicle to our dealership.
The agreed delivery charge may take account of the outward journey and the potential return journey, provided this was clearly explained and agreed before payment.
Unless separately agreed in advance, no additional return transportation charge will automatically be imposed simply because the customer decides not to purchase the vehicle.
Where a customer has a statutory right to cancel or reject the vehicle, any transportation costs will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.
11. Distance Selling & Statutory Cancellation Rights
Alliance Cars Limited primarily offers customers the opportunity to inspect and test-drive vehicles before completing their purchase.
However, whether a transaction qualifies as a distance contract depends on the circumstances in which the contract is concluded.
Where the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply, customers may have a statutory right to cancel within the applicable cancellation period.
For qualifying distance contracts involving vehicle delivery, the cancellation period is generally 14 days beginning the day after the customer receives the vehicle.
Where a valid statutory cancellation right is exercised, Alliance Cars Limited will refund all payments required by law, including applicable standard outbound delivery charges.
Additional charges for an expressly selected premium delivery service may be treated differently where permitted by law.
Any applicable vehicle collection or return costs will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant legislation and the information provided to the customer before the contract was concluded.
Our delivery charge policy does not remove or restrict statutory cancellation rights.
12. Vehicle Condition & Customer Inspection
We aim to ensure that all vehicles are accurately described and appropriately prepared before collection or delivery.
Customers are encouraged to review vehicle photographs, descriptions, specifications and service history information before reserving a vehicle.
Where a customer requests delivery, they will have the opportunity to inspect the vehicle upon arrival, subject to the agreed delivery arrangements.
If a vehicle is materially misdescribed, is not supplied as agreed or has a fault giving rise to a statutory remedy, Alliance Cars Limited will comply with its legal obligations.
Customers will not be charged unfair cancellation or delivery fees where the law requires a refund.
13. Vehicle Unavailability or Cancellation by Alliance Cars Limited
If Alliance Cars Limited is unable to supply the reserved vehicle because it has become unavailable, has been withdrawn from sale or cannot be supplied as agreed, the customer will receive a full refund of the holding deposit.
Where delivery charges have been paid and the agreed delivery service cannot be provided, those charges will also be refunded as required by law.
We may offer an alternative vehicle, but the customer is under no obligation to accept it.
14. Refund Processing
Where a refund is due, Alliance Cars Limited will aim to process it promptly.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
For statutory cancellations, refunds will be processed within the applicable legal deadlines.
Bank and card processing times may vary.
15. Collection & Completion of Purchase
Customers collecting a vehicle from our dealership may inspect and test-drive it before completing the purchase, subject to prior arrangements.
Where delivery has been requested, the customer may inspect the vehicle upon arrival in accordance with the agreed delivery terms.
Once the customer is satisfied and the purchase is completed, the outstanding balance must be paid in accordance with the agreed payment arrangements.
The holding deposit will be deducted from the final purchase price.
16. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Deposit, Reservation & Delivery Policy excludes, restricts or affects a customer’s statutory rights under applicable UK consumer protection legislation, including:
- Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
- Other applicable consumer protection legislation.
Where any provision of this policy conflicts with a customer’s statutory rights, the applicable law will take precedence.
